What do we owe our government? In the week before Jesus was betrayed, he told stories about people who did not recognize their king and refused to pay what they owed to their landlord. Afterward, the religious leaders tried to trap him by getting him to disavow the Roman government. Jesus surprised them by telling them to give to Caesar what was Caesar’s and to God what belonged to God. What do we owe God?
