Tallowood continues our long legacy of locally making an impact here in the Houston area. Listed below are various types of local missions. Under each type of mission is a listing of all of Tallowood’s local mission partners. This includes a description and a point of contact for all of Tallowood’s local mission partners. This makes it so easy for you, your family, and your connect group to directly communicate with and to serve with any of these local mission organizations.

Anti-Human Trafficking

Offering freedom to survivors of human trafficking who have been sexually exploited through fraud, force, or coercion

Freedom Church Alliance: The Freedom Church Alliance exists to engage the Church as a unified, collaborative body to make a greater impact in the anti-human trafficking movement.

Assistance and Community Development

Ministries: assists and develops recipients to self-sustainability.

Street Reach – Tallowood provides a meal at Montrose Street Reach (MSR) the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7 PM. The meal is delivered to “Street Church” in an open lot at 2107 Main Street. Street Reach volunteers provide meals to more than 100 men, women and children.

Mission Centers of Houston (MCH): MCH provides for the physical and spiritual needs of people living in Houston’s inner city. Through ongoing relationships, age-graded programs and mission partnerships they change lives with the love, mercy, and grace of Jesus Christ.

The Source: The Source is a full-service women’s health clinic empowering women with better choices. They provide holistic, Christ-inspired reproductive medical services and support. There are numerous volunteer opportunities for men and women. These include counselors, mentors, medical experts, marketers and more.

West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM):

MAM’s mission is to assure families have the means to meet their basic needs. Their philosophy of service is one of personalized support, believing that every client is capable, creative and whole. MAM has a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups of all ages. Volunteer opportunities are available during the daytime, evening, and weekends.

Refugee, Immigrant, & Apartment Ministries

Service and evangelism of under-resourced and unreached people groups and in apartment communities

Global Gates – Houston: An evangelical missions organization mobilizing prayer, missionaries, and volunteers for the most unreached people groups in Houston. Their core mission is to advance the gospel to Houston’s most unreached people groups.

Prestige Learning Institute (PLI): PLI fosters community development to open doors of opportunity for adult immigrants and refugees. PLI provides faith-based, culturally appropriate, and affordable education initiatives, including English as a Second Language classes, and career development services empowering their students to advance personally, academically, and economically.

Retirement Centers

Retirement Centers: This ministry brings worship and praise services to many nursing homes and retirement facilities in Houston. Volunteer opportunities include presenting a message, leading the singing, and assisting residents who are unable to attend worship services on their own.
