Fall Bible Studies

Joy of Living | Tuesday Mornings | September 15 – November 10

E100 | 9:30AM – 11:30AM

Hebrews Part 1 (chapters 1-8)

Jesus Christ is at the center of attention in the book of Hebrews. We learn that He is greater than the prophets, the angels, Moses, Joshua, and Aaron—He is superior over all others. Hebrews describes Jesus’ ministry in heaven at God’s right hand on our behalf.

We are urged to let go of everything else in order to hold fast to our faith and to the hope of the gospel. It is a timely warning and a word of comfort to all, especially today when many are led astray by fads and cults.

Women In The Word | Tuesday Mornings | September 15 – October 27

W315 | 9:30AM – 11:30AM

Psalm 23: The Shepherd with Me, Jennifer Rothschild.

Many women know Psalm 23 by heart but haven’t experienced its power in their lives. This beloved psalm can breathe new life into women who are weary and unsure of their next steps. It’s more than a psalm that comforts in death; it gives confidence in life.

In this 7-session study by Jennifer Rothschild, gain fresh insight and encouragement from Psalm 23. Explore the depths of God’s compassionate care while debunking the self-reliance myth. Learn how your vulnerability is not a liability because you can trust the Shepherd’s goodness throughout each season of life.

Practicing the Way: Be with Jesus. Become Like Him. Do as He Did. John Mark Comer

When Jesus calls us to “follow me,” he invites us into a lifelong lifestyle relationship that engages every aspect of who we are and shapes each moment of our lives.

When we say “yes” to Jesus’ “follow me,” we commit to becoming his disciples (or “apprentices”), and he transforms us to become like him.

Together we will explore

  • why becoming his apprentice is the best thing we can do with our lives (well worth whatever it costs!),
  • what it includes and involves, and
  • how following Jesus becomes the way we live.

One reviewer said, “This is the book that I want everyone in my church to read. It is an invitation [to go] deeper for the lifelong follower of Jesus, and the perfect primer for the new believer.” (Tyler Staton, Bridgetown Church)

Join the journey as we explore how to follow him!

Precept | Wednesday Mornings | September 2 – November 11

W320 | 9:30AM – 11:30AM

1st and 2nd Thessalonians

In our study on 1 Thessalonians (7 lessons), observe Paul’s encouragement to the young church in Thessalonica, focusing on themes of faith, love, hope, the importance of holy living, and the anticipation of Christ’s return.

Are you an example to others? Learn the principles of exemplary Christian living. Understand the spiritual warfare, sparked by the presence of the gospel in the world, and the rapture of the church—God’s ultimate rescue.

2 Thessalonians- So You Won’t Be Deceived About His Coming (4 lessons)

Don’t be confused about “the Day of the Lord.” The Thessalonians were interested in the end times, just as we are today. But they were confused until they received this letter from Paul. Include this book in your study of prophecy to fully understand what God says about the last days.

Standing With The Lord | Wednesday Mornings | September 16 – December 9

Zoom | 9:00AM – 10:30AM

This is a small grace-based discipleship group Bible study that meets online by Zoom. Each week we study God’s Word with a Workbook Lesson / Lesson Notes format and uplift each other with our Prayer/Share/Care time.  Please join us as we delve deep into the Lord’s Word to discover His character and teachings that guide us to live lives that are pleasing to Him and that build His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. Come help us search the Lord’s Instruction Manual for what He has revealed about our Creator, our stewardship of His creation, our care of His creatures, and His prophecies regarding the impact of the end times on His creation. This study is ideal for those who travel, work from home, or are homebound, yet still want to have the blessing of a small group Bible Study. Contact women@tallowood.org for materials.

Divine Design | Wednesday Mornings | September 16 – December 9

The Grand Room | 9:30AM – Noon

Divine Design is a mentoring class modeled after Titus 2:3-5.  The class is open to all women (married or unmarried) including pre-teens and teens.  We are a home-centered community that celebrates biblical womanhood and encourages women to find joy and contentment as they strive to live godly lives that are holy and set apart for the glory of God alone. We focus on homemaking, skill-building, Bible study, practical advice, and prayer each week.

Skill Building

Divine Design begins with a practical, hands-on demonstration of various homemaking skills, such as cooking, organization, time management, decorative arts and crafts, home maintenance/repair, healthy cooking options, and more. These skills equip us to serve our families, churches, and communities using our unique gifts and talents.

Bible Study

We have alternating lessons on biblical womanhood, marriage, and practical lessons on raising young children, preteens, and teens, and guiding them through this culture of cell phones and social media.

Prayer

Each week, we close with small group prayer time, during which Christian sisters build relationships by sharing their needs and praying for one another.
