Daily Devotionals from our Pastor
The Word of God
At Tallowood Baptist Church, we believe that it’s important to get into the Word of God every day. However, we understand that it can often be challenging to find the time to dedicate to reading the Bible within your busy schedule. Even if you only have 5 minutes, incorporating spending time reading the Bible is a powerful way to deepen your relationship with Jesus. God desires a close and intimate relationship with you and wants to speak to you through his Word. That’s why we’ve created these daily devotionals to make it easier to spend time with the Lord regularly. We believe that God will use these to speak to you in a personal way!
In the coming weeks, we will be transitioning to a new email provider for our Daily Devotionals. As a result of this change, you will need to resubscribe to continue receiving these emails. Please complete the form below to subscribe for the first time or resubscribe. Emails with our new platform will begin going out on April 1.

Quick and Easy to Follow
Each day, you’ll be able to read a new devotional that makes it easy to understand God’s Word. Regardless of if you’re a long-time Christian or a new believer, our devotionals are designed to help grow your faith at any point in your walk with Jesus. Every devotional starts with a brief passage of scripture that we’ll guide you through. After reading the scripture, we break it down into simple terms and unpack the meaning so that it’s relatable to your life. Lastly, you’ll find a short prayer to say that ties back to the scripture and a Bible verse to memorize if you choose to do so. If you have extra time, we encourage you to also spend time reflecting on the daily devotional in your journal or discussing it more in-depth with a loved one.
Grow Closer to God
The Bible tells us that when we draw close to God, He will come closer to us (James 4:8). God sent His only son to earth so that we would know His love and have a personal connection with Him. One of the best ways to deepen your relationship with the Lord is by carving out a dedicated time to spend regularly reading the Bible and praying. Jesus tells the disciples this in Matthew 4:4 by “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Even though it may feel challenging to find the time, God wants us to put Him first above all other things. Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” When you make spending time with God a priority, you’ll see your life transform and your faith strengthen. These daily devotionals are a great way to get into the habit of spending time in the word of god regularly. A great time to read your devotional is first thing in the morning or right before bed.
Experience The Living Word
Did you know that the Bible is often called the Living Word? Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.” This means that when you read the Bible, the Holy Spirit will speak to you in a personal way that’s relevant to your life. God will put on your heart what He is trying to communicate to you through the scripture passage in the devotional. 2 Timothy 3:16 explains that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”
Sometimes when you read the same passage again at a different point in time, God will help you to understand it differently than before. Psalm 119 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light on to my path.” As you grow in your faith and mature as a Chrisitan, God will reveal himself to you in new ways. If you ever need guidance on a specific situation in your life, the Lord will give you wisdom and clarity through the Holy Spirit while reading the Bible.

Become More Like Christ
As Christians, our main goal in life is to become more like Jesus but to do so, we need to deeply understand who Jesus is. The best place to learn about Jesus is within the New Testament within the Bible. Romans 10:17 says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Our daily devotionals will help you to learn more about who Jesus is and help you to apply it to your life. Over time, when you become more like Jesus, you’ll notice new qualities of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control coming out in you. These qualities are known as the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
