Sunday School Mission Leaders
Welcome Sunday School Mission Leaders. This page is here to provide you you with information and resources for your Sunday school class. Please check back regularly for new information.
Holiday Projects
Turkeys – anyone interested in donating to help purchase turkeys for Thanksgiving can donate to account 2-000-21969 from your Sunday School Missions account.
Christmas
Tallowood has many things going on during Christmas. Here are some that your SS class can be involved with.
Family Adoptions – Each Christmas we have many families to provide presents for their children and family. This is a wonderful, and very important, ministry that your class can be involved with. This is for anyone from your SS class, to your “Christmas” family gathering, or business, etc. Please talk about it now to decide how many families you would like to adopt.
Christmas Store – For more information visit this website for information and lists on how to help with the Christmas store. They also need volunteers to help get ready for the store. The dates we need help at the mission are Fri., Nov. 21, Wed. Dec. 3 and Fri., Dec. 5. If someone would like to help, please have them call us -- 281-493-6209. This is work for the more able bodied because there are stairs to climb and a lot of carrying and bending
Seafarers – There are boxes located around the church for your donations to help the seafarers Christmas ministry. Your department Sunday School Mission Leader has a list of items needed.
George Bruner – Talk to your Sunday School Mission Leader for more information on how to help Tallowood’s Santa Clause.
BMC Christmas Store
Below
are some dates and times that help is needed at the Baptist Mission
Center’s Christmas Store.
Please pass this information along to your class to see if you can get a group
to help. Thanks
10 volunteers needed
Friday, Nov. 21 -- 9:00 until mid-afternoon -- At Joy Mission Center -- We will
be dividing the toys into three groups for the three Missions. There will
be bending as we do this. We will be on second floor to do this so we
will not be climbing up and down the stairs as we did last year. Bring
your lunch.
10 volunteers needed
Wed., Dec. 3 -- 9:00 -- At Joy Mission Center
until mid-afternoon -- We will load the large sacks of toys into the box truck
and our vehicles to transport them to Gano and Flether Missions. Bring your
lunch.
10 volunteers needed
Friday, Dec. 5 -- 9:00 -- At Gano Mission
Center until mid-afternoon -- We will be setting up the store for the next
day. We will set up tables (men will do this), put the tablecloths and
skirts on the tables, put the toys on the tables and decorate the gym.
Bring your lunch.
5-10 volunteers needed
Sat., Dec. 6 -- 8:30 1:00 -- At Gano Mission -- Christmas Store --
We need help in many ways -- shoppers (help parents select gifts), refreshment
table for the parents, at the booths where the gifts are displayed.
Each person or group who wants to volunteer needs to go to the BMC website (www.bmchouston.org),
click on Christmas Store, click on Volunteer page at the bottom, click on
Christmas Store volunteers, complete the volunteer form and send or fax it
into to BMC. Check Gano for mission location so we can stay in
contact with the volunteers from Tallowood. This helps us to keep track
of volunteers who want to help. We have driving directions to
the missions that we can forward to anyone who volunteers.
