The Mission of Women@Tallowood

It is our prayer that Christ uses the Women @ Tallowood to transform the hearts and lives of women through Renewal, Rest, Refreshment, and Reconnecting (The Four R’s).

Renewal
And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)

It is our prayer that women find real transformation here at Tallowood, that while they come to rest, refresh and reconnect, they will hear with their ears and listen with their hearts to God’s Truth, and be transformed. As Peter writes, “for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and abiding word of God.

Rest
Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:23-25)

In our busy world, women are bombarded with the message that you are the sum of what you do. God wants women to know that they are the sum of what Christ did for them, and nothing they have done themselves.

It is our prayer that women will rest in the freedom of knowing that God loves them as they are. We hope to offer them chances to “rest” and abide in the Lord through Bible Study, inspiring speakers, opportunities for small group gatherings and prayer time.

Refreshment
But they who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 41:30)

Women are tired. Period. Many women feel as though life is no longer fun…, the stress of working in or outside the home, caring for loved ones whether they are children or our elderly parents, losing friends to sickness and aging, working long hours in our career, sitting in Houston traffic…and the daily grind goes on.

Women need and want someone to tell them they are lovely and beautiful and that they have a divine purpose. Isn’t it refreshing when someone tells you how great you are? God thinks we are all of those things. We want them to know it.

Reconnecting
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you would be filled up to all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 4:14-18)

Women want to “reconnect” with Jesus. They are often seeking connection and friendships with people and things that leave them empty. We pray that here they will be reconnected or connected even for the first time to realizing the height, the depth, the breadth, and the length of God’s love. They will find this through his Holy Spirit, but also in the lifegiving friendships with other saints.

Women want to feel like they belong at church and have a purpose at church…to grow, to get plugged in, and to serve.
